My family calls me Iko-Ojo (eeko-orjor) and most people know me as Mercy. Call me whichever!
I am a visual artist specialising in motherhood/family portraiture and documentary photography. I've spent a big part of the last four years documenting pregnancies and other family milestones, some of which you can see here. I am now expanding my practice to include more long term documentary projects on subject matters I'm interested in. I also enjoy filmmaking, writing and other creative arts.
Apart from my creative work, I co-present Parentland, a BBC World Service podcast that investigates everyday parenting questions through the lens of scientific research and global cultural practices. I am also the co-founder of The Amitié Project, a new community project that champions maternal physical and mental wellness through charity fundraising and campaigns.
I was born and raised in Nigeria and spent my teenage years in France. I currently live in Kent with my husband, my 5 year old son and 3 year old daughter.
